At The Saz Academy, we specialize in teaching the saz, the soul-stirring string instrument that lies at the heart of Anatolian folk music.

Individual & Group Lessons

Besides traditional group lesson we also offer individual lesson, for those who wish to have the full dedication.

Course types

We offer three types of courses; short neck saz, long neck saz, and the finger playing technique called "şelpe".

Beginner to advanced lessons

Tailored lessons for all ages and skill levels, from absolute beginners to advanced players.

Meet our instructor

We make sure that our teachers not only master the instrument but also possess educational credentials to teach, inspire and motivate!

Ümit Fırat

[Teacher]
Born in Izmir, Turkey, Ümit Firat is a highly accomplished bağlama player and educator. After graduating with a major in bağlama from the Ege Conservatory, he continued his musical journey in the Netherlands, earning a degree in World Music from Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam. He has participated in various musical projects and is a co-founder of the Seyyah Ensemble, where he is active as a saz player and singer. With over 12 years of teaching experience and a deep passion for Turkish folk music, Ümit brings both expertise and inspiration to every lesson.
