Our lessons
Choose the type of lesson that suits you.
A lesson year consists of 40 lessons. The rate depends on the student’s age: no VAT applies under the age of 21; from 21, prices include 21% VAT.
Private lesson
One-to-one attention, in lessons of 20 or 30 minutes.

Learn from experienced teachers
Ümit Fırat
Bağlama player and teacher, trained at the Ege Conservatory and Codarts Rotterdam. He combines traditional knowledge with a practical, modern approach to teaching, with attention to technique as well as the joy of music.
We start with posture, plectrum technique, tuning and the first melodies, and build up the level step by step. Lessons can be tailored to short-neck or long-neck bağlama and to the repertoire that fits your goal.

Is a trial lesson free?
Yes. You can request a free trial lesson without any obligation. Afterwards we discuss which type of lesson and group suits you best.
From what age can I start?
We teach children from age 8, teenagers and adults. Beginners are welcome; you do not need to be able to play the saz yet.
Do I need my own saz?
For regular lessons, having your own instrument eventually matters so you can practise at home. If you do not have a saz yet, we can advise you on choosing one.
Can I take private lessons?
Yes. You can choose group, private or duo lessons. A private lesson lasts 20 or 30 minutes.
Where do the lessons take place?
Lessons take place at The Saz Academy, Ouwerdingenpad 3 in Amsterdam Nieuw-West.
